Bio
Duel TNL champion Drew Grimmett was named head coach of the Dutch Rudderz on 26 February 2008 after a tearing his ACL in a collision with Wrasslers goalie Matthew Trounce. The star defender who won the James Wright and Chuck Norris awards of seasons 1 and 3 respectively was only starting to get his mojo back in three seasons after a horrific from-behind check saw him in a brace with a suspected broken neck for 7 weeks.
Drew joined the Rudderz front office 4 weeks after his ACL reconstruction in March 2008 and since then has gone on to coach the team in 142 games compiling a 82-54-6 (.598) record during his tenue whilst also leading the team to the Season 5 and Season 7 TNL championships.
Drew’s 10 year playing career started back in 1998 when he was drafted Pick 12 in the first round of the draft finding himself at the Strathmore Snipers. He recorded 99 goals and 96 assists for 195 points and 191 penalty minutes in 173 games.
After the neck injury Grimmett retired from hockey but was persuaded back by old mate Luke Morrison and was picked up in the expansion draft in 2007 by the Dutch Rudderz. There he played a further 31 games totalling 18 goals, 15 assists at 33 points and amassing 47.5 penalty minutes while leading the team to both championships against Yo Mama.
Drew loves fishing and voting and is a mad Melbourne Victory fan.
